No-Love-Thursday or a Drinking Club in Crisis:
fat nudes
There is trouble right here in River City. It has come to my attention that this morning WOWO Radio announced that Flavia Puff has resigned her post as President for Life of the No-Love-Thursday Mutual Aid Society and Drinking Club, she has subsequently been granted asylum in the People’s Republic of Ohio. Has we speak, her Halliburton contracted right wing death squads are being rounded up (show trials and summary executions are currently in the planning stages).

There is a rumor (as reported by Dusty) that Flavia had signed our sovereign drilling rights over to several oil companies who in turn backed her corrupt government. How else would she have been able to hire all those Canadian mercenaries and buy those F-16s?

This of course leaves this venerable drinking club without a leader. As bi-laws indicate, neither myself nor M. Chamberlain News Paper Man, can once again take on a leadership role, so the floor is open for new candidates. Many of our members are still in hiding, Pastor Bob was abducted from the parsonage at gun point Sunday night by 12 men dressed in black and has not been heard from since. Currently there is talk of UN Peace Keeping Forces being deployed, to help restore order (Denmark & Sri Lanka have pledged two crack battalions each)

What is needed is a person with vision, a smart ass, one with deep pockets who is willing and able to subsidize our drinking, does such a person exist? We can only hope dear reader, we can only hope.

You have until close of business today (unless I change my mind ) to vote in “JQP’s First Annual Viewers Choice Tattoo Contest and Charity Car Wash”. Dobbs Himeself and left Coast Dusty are in the lead at time of print. See 10-19-05 for details.

Things that Piss Me Off:

I was bitching about this yesterday on Indy’s blog. What makes someone think that I want to see their organically filtered fluid intake? How hard is it to flush in a public urinal? Ok, how about you go into a stall and not only did the person there before you not flush; they somehow took a dump on the seat. Just how in the fuck does that happen? I mean, I have had to go in a hurry, but to miss a 24 inch in diameter bowl filled with water? How in the fuck does that happen?

Your Polish Inspired Recipes for the Week:
(I was told I have been doing too many South Carolina Low-Country and Macedonian foods)

Pickled Beet Soup
(Barszcz Kwaszony z Burakow)

6 large beets
1 slice sour rye bread
4 cups lukewarm water
salt & pepper to taste
dash of sugar

Scrape and dice the beets, cover with water and place bread on top. Cover loosely and let stand for 4 days in the warmest spot in the kitchen. Should mold appear, carefully skim it off. Discard bread and season soup to taste. Serve hot or cold with a topping of sour cream (optional). Serves 4.

Chicken Livers in Madeira
(Watrobki z Drobiu Duszone w Maderze)

1/2 lb. chicken livers
milk
2 tbsp. butter
1 small onion, minced
salt & pepper to taste
flour
1/4 cup bullion
1/4 cup Madeira

Soak livers in milk for a few hours. Drain and cut large ones in half. Cook onion in butter until transparent, increase heat, and add livers. Brown quickly on both sides. Season, dredge with flour and when this browns reduce heat. Add bullion and wine and allow to boil up a couple times. Livers should not cook any longer than 6-8 minutes and should be faintly pink inside. Serves 2 to 3.

Stuffed Cabbage
(Kapusta Wloska Faszerowana)

2 small heads savoy cabbage, quartered
salted boiling water
1 med. onion, minced
1 tbsp. butter
1 lb. ground meat
1 white roll, moistened in milk and mashed
salt, pepper, and a dash of nutmeg
2 whole eggs, lightly beaten
2 cups tomato sauce

Parboil cabbage for 5 minutes in salted water. Meanwhile, brown onion lightly in butter. Mix with meat, roll, seasoning, and eggs. Drain cabbage and when cool enough to handle spread the leaves with the stuffing. Roll up leaves and place seam side down. Arrange tightly in a casserole and add 1 cup tomato sauce to bottom of casserole, top cabbage with other cup. Place cabbage casserole in a 350° oven for 90 minutes. Serve with warm rolls and butter. Serves 6-8.

Today’s Bill:
"We that are true lovers run into strange capers; but as all is mortal in nature, so is all nature in love mortal in folly."

Quote of the Day:
The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin. When all is orderly, he does not forget that disorder may come. Thus his person is not endangered, and his States and all their clans are preserved.
